We got in touch with DeskMakers to understand how their current offerings give clients the freedom of flexibility and how the recent acquisition of Scale1:1 leverages the brand to become bigger and better than ever before.
DeskMakers’ Catalina, allows clients to apply a personal touch to their workspace. Acquiring Scale1:1 now allows DeskMakers to offer the Scale1:1 product line alongside Catalina.

DeskMakers recently acquired Scale1:1. Could you tell us what you’re most excited for about the acquisition?
When our owner, Phil Polishook first encountered Scale1:1, he was blown away by their innovative approach, and we’re excited to share these amazing designs with our existing client base.
The acquisition also represents an expansion for DeskMakers, what kind of audience or markets are you hoping to gain from the acquisition?
DeskMakers already has a great relationship with our Dealer Network. We’re looking forward to expanding our product offering and introducing them to the unique portfolio of products Scale1:1 offers. At the same time, the acquisition also opens the door to a new audience in the A&D market.
A year from now what would be the most exciting thing you could think of about how the acquisition of Scale 1:1 has been accepted, specified and installed in projects?
It would be great to see DeskMakers become a go-to resource in the corporate sector and other markets. Our goal is to help our customers achieve their design vision by offering custom capabilities and tailored solutions to meet their design needs. We are already recognized for our design-flexibility and plan to continue that tradition with Scale1:1.
DeskMakers already has a wide product offering that designers can choose from. Could we specifically learn more about your recent line of storage solutions, Catalina? How does it impact workplace design?
Catalina was developed in response to requests from office furniture dealers and interior designers. As more offices move to open plan and shared spaces, the need for storage solutions has increased. Catalina gives designers more flexibility and enables them to create some security and storage where there would otherwise be none.
Catalina lockers, cubbies and work islands also come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and configurations, allowing for easy planning and installation.
Does Catalina contribute to “new ways of working”?
Definitely. When you walk into a co-working space or open-plan office it can sometimes be difficult for the end-user to have a “home base”. Catalina gives the end-user a place all their own and our work islands create an additional workspace with functional mobility where they can store things as you would in a traditional office setting.
Can you tell a story or give an example of how Catalina can be used in a project?
Biotech company Denali had recently expanded their offices to create a more dynamic work environment and needed meeting solutions and storage options that could seamlessly integrate with their existing office design. The team at Pivot Interiors specified DeskMakers Albright Parsons Tables and Venice Meeting Tables and tasked DeskMakers with developing a unique storage solution to match the existing finishes and look of the space. The resulting locker design is now part of DeskMakers Catalina collection of storage solutions.
