I think it is a trend that likely to continue shaping the future of work.

Comment on Authentically Gen Z: The Values, Aspirations & Drivers That Will Re-Define the Future of Work by Mohit Singla https://www.workdesign.com/2022/08/authentically-gen-z-the-values-aspirations-drivers-that-will-re-define-the-future-of-work/#comment-241965 Thu, 18 Apr 2024 08:36:19 +0000 https://www.workdesign.com/?p=57819#comment-241965 You think you know certain things about a particular software platform, until you get in the office and people teach you tips and tricks that make the work easier and help you be more productive. Sitting next to someone sharing that knowledge goes a long way to strengthening your technical skills. This knowledge sharing isn’t transferred as easily while working remotely.

Comment on Are You Miserable At Work? Here’s The Secret To Finding Your Ideal Work Environment by Nona Soumy https://www.workdesign.com/2024/02/are-you-miserable-at-work-heres-the-secret-to-finding-your-ideal-work-environment/#comment-221894 Mon, 05 Feb 2024 18:11:11 +0000 https://www.workdesign.com/?p=63739#comment-221894 The piece unfortunately risks drawing a straight line between career success and agreeable extroversion.* While some organizations indeed demonstrate that the extroverts are those who get promoted, that doesn’t necessarily equate to organizational success. Diversity – including introversion (read “Quiet” “The Introvert Advantage” and others) – isn’t just a current buzzword; it’s a critical ingredient for any thriving, successful organization in achieving its mission. Some of our most celebrated leaders heading mammoth corporations are introverts, not extroverts!

*(“…being extraverted and open means you’re the life of the party. Not only that, but if you’re agreeable too, then you’re “easy to get along with, cooperative, and approachable.” Agreeable individuals are more likely to fit into the community, enjoy the coworking experience, and contribute to giving coworkers a good time too.

A study published by Forbes identifies that agreeableness is the “most essential [personality traits] when it comes to job performance and career advancement.” In fact, companies are increasingly finding that the “Big 5” personality traits help them determine whether a job candidate will fit into their company culture and team.”)

Comment on Hindsight is not always 2020: Why Organizations are Stuck & the Strategies to Move On by Paul Tackowiak https://www.workdesign.com/2023/12/hindsight-is-not-always-2020-why-organizations-are-stuck-the-strategies-to-move-on/#comment-205815 Sun, 17 Dec 2023 16:09:47 +0000 https://www.workdesign.com/?p=63371#comment-205815 I agree that leaders are more often going to rely on their personal though possibly out-dated experiences for achieving success – certainly in the short term. In the long term, however, the realities of the present can force change and in this case that force is likely to be economic. Organizations that are more progressive with their approach to managing people and real estate will likely demonstrate financial efficiencies that will be difficult to ignore or deny. That happened with the move to the open office and will be repeated with a hybrid way of working. It will just take time.

Comment on How Industrial Buildings Are Being Transformed Into Inspiring Workspaces by Mia Evans https://www.workdesign.com/2022/06/how-industrial-buildings-are-being-transformed-into-inspiring-workspaces/#comment-174607 Sat, 26 Aug 2023 09:12:23 +0000 https://www.workdesign.com/?p=57347#comment-174607 I totally agree when you said that showcasing your products would be important even when you are establishing an online shopping account. With that in mind, it would be helpful to get an industrial space for sale if you plan on investing in that kind of business. It seems that it will definitely be useful when it comes to storing your products for your clients to see.
